Dig In at Levy Park Gardens: Organic Gardening 101

This introductory organic gardening class will prepare you to grow edibles - learn to plan and prep your garden beds, grow in the correct season of the year, emphasis on buying and building microbial and fungal rich soil through top down soil building by composting, fertilizing, mulching. Free, no registration is required. Times: 9:30-10am outreach table, ask the expert. 10-10:30am Class 10:30-11am question and answer. Urban Harvest class sponsored by Levy Park Conservancy.

InstructorsBio   Debbie Gordon is a long time home gardener and a member of Westbury Community Garden since 2013. Debbie has served in various community garden leadership roles including Vice President, Volunteer Coordinator, Outreach Committee Chair and Planning Committee. Through her leadership, attendance at the garden’s Volunteer Community Service Days have grown to 30-40 volunteers from schools, churches and corporate groups each month. She is the organizer for two community events which have become annual traditions in Westbury - the Annual Tomato Tasting held on the first Saturday in June and VegOut! Westbury, held each Saturday afternoon during March for National Nutrition Month.
