Gardening 101 for Teaching in the Outdoor Classroom Workshop

Participants will be introduced to methods of growing vegetables in the Houston climate. In this workshop, topics, such as gardening basics, planting and planting demonstrations, as well as care and maintenance of the garden will be covered. In addition, participants will experience a dynamic nutrition presentation by Chef Tarsha Gary of ECOTONE in this 3-hour workshop. Teachers, students age 8+, parents & community volunteers are welcome! Teachers earn 3 CPE hours per workshop. InstructorsBio   Gardening Presenter: Sherry Cruse is an Urban Harvest Garden Educator and an active volunteer at Mercer Arboretum. A Texas Master Gardener, she has participated in extensive field work including gathering local species for the Millennium Seed Bank with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and tracking endangered species populations for the Center for Plant Conservancy. Sherry is also a frequent speaker on gardening issues and conducts courses in floral design.
